This is the InHarmony podcast. Real conversations with the people living and working with our technology. How it's changing their days, their families, their practices, and their communities.
Hosted by our co-founder, Craig Goldberg. Ladies and gentlemen, we are back with the very great Dr. James Lethem. And I absolutely love everything about what we're about to share, everything that we're about to talk about.
And I'm just excited to get into it. Over the course of the last five years, you've become a dear friend. I remember exactly where I was when we had the conversation.
I was picking up my daughter. I was early. The phone rings randomly.
I answered it. We had a nice long conversation while I was sitting in the grass at a park next to my in-law's house. And I think the rest is kind of in history.
James, thank you for being here. It's an honor. It's an honor and privilege, man.
Brother from another mother, Craig Goldberg. Goodness. So why don't you just, before we go back to where you were and what was going on, just talk a little bit about your business, the pivot you made during COVID, and kind of who you are and what you do.
Just to establish a little bit, not that you need credibility, you're already wearing scrubs. And it says Dr. James Lethem, advanced wellness and pain. But just give us a little bit of an overview of a story of what you do, how you do it, and introduce yourself.
Totally. Well, my name is Dr. James Lethem. I'm a board certified anesthesiologist.
I literally just finished my clinic day, right? I'm in fresh in the clinic. We're in our space room right now. So I'm a co-founder of two ketamine clinics called Advanced Wellness and Pain, one in Scottsdale, Arizona, one in Gilbert, Arizona.
And then during 2020, we made a COVID pivot. A lot of the elective surgeries were not happening. And we did a lot of surgery center work at that time.
And so I approached my two partners, Dr. Wong and Dr. Sharman. I was like, hey, you guys want to start a ketamine clinic? There's a mental health epidemic. I know ketamine is definitely up and coming for mental health.
Especially back then, it wasn't as widely known as it is now. And so we gave it a shot. And we would do two guys in the clinic.
And we'd have one out doing anesthesia. And slowly but surely over time, it kind of took over our practice. And so then my last day ever doing general anesthesia so far was December 8, 2022.
And then now I've been full time in our two clinics. And we just rotate. And then really using ketamine as a catalyst for consciousness.
It's only federally legal psychedelic. And then we really have a unique process. And we curate an experience.
And that's where we weave in the InHarmony technology. And I found you on Instagram back in 2020. So take me back.
So take me back to what was happening in your life or your practice right before you brought InHarmony in. What were you looking for? How did you find us? We already went through the dates and the times and all that to make sure we're on point. But where were you before you found InHarmony? Well, we were doing ketamine infusions.
And then I noticed that you do the infusion on a zero-gravity chair. Sure, you pick out the music. You do the eye shades.
We give you a crystal to hold on or some sort of grounding tool. Give you an essential oil. I'm trying to really enhance the five senses.
And then I'm scrolling Instagram like all of us do at some point in time in our lives. Doom scroll a little bit. Really just scrolling, not looking for the doom.
And then I see this vibroacoustic meditation cushion. And I'm like, that looks awesome. I've never seen anything like that.
And it just caught my eye. I'm like, I'm going to order this for myself. And so I did.
I ordered it for my own personal biohacking meditation practice. I got it. I'm on the cushion.
And I'm like, this would be incredible after ketamine. Because after you're done with the ketamine infusion, you're just kind of sitting there. And then what I do is I call this ketitation.
And so ketamine drops you out of that beta brainwave frequency into more of that theta brainwave frequency. And then meditation is more theta brainwave frequency. So I'm like, why not capitalize on giving them proper vibroacoustic sound, vibration? It's all frequency.
And so they have somewhere to land after the infusion versus just sitting there and waiting for the medicine to drop. So I give you a 10-minute rest after the infusion. Then we go to the vibroacoustic cushion.
And then we use one of your tracks. We kind of vary it up each time. Use an 11-minute track.
And then rise them up out of the medicine with ketatation. And then they're able to put more of their thoughts to words, essentially. And then we move them through the process so that their fifth and sixth infusion, we call the master class.
You're on the vibroacoustic bed, the sound lounge. And I'm actually in our room with a sound lounge right behind me right now. And we've literally done probably thousands of sessions on these sound lounges and cushions.
And these sound lounge ones are still working just as they did day one. They're like bulletproof. So let me try.
It's funny. You called me and you were like, hey, so am I upgrading? And I was like, there's really no reason to do it. You don't have to.
Your beds are still working really well. I'll announce it right now. We're shifting to a lifetime warranty because we believe in our product and because we stand behind what that is on the amps and the transducers, which are the two most active components on the technology.
So especially field serviceable, if something breaks and it's clearly manufacturer-related, we'll send you a new amp. We'll send you a new transducer. We stand behind our products.
Walk me through what a session. I know you talked in general about those sessions. I've actually, you've invited me down to the clinic.
I've been through the process. I've done it both in a recliner and then on the cushion, which was, it was such a change and a shift. The approach that you take to the intake, to the process, to the integration and the conversation that I had with Dr. Wong the first time, that power is, it's so wonderful.
My second infusion, doing it on the sound lounge and then doing it with you because you were out of town the first time I came down, but you came back in or you were in another office, whatever. The entire process, it's so, it's so ritualistic and, and process driven. Look, you still have the monitor on you.
You're still obviously a medical doctor that's trained and versed in, in this medicine. However, it really is a psychedelic approach that you take to the process and practice. So what does the session actually look like? And, and, and what does that look like? You're saying like an IV ketamine session, what it looks like? Well, obviously we've got medical history.
We do survey scores. We've cleared you for all this. You do a prep session with an integration coach.
We have a proprietary workbook that we've created with our, you know, partnered integration coaching company is called being true to you. And so you're prepared when you come into this because proper preparation prevents poor performance. Yeah.
And so it's all about intention, right? Doing a psychedelic medicine and just dissociating and, you know, doing a recreation. That's okay. Sometimes I'm not demonizing that in any way, but if we're going to do this in a therapeutic context, it's coming with a preparation intention, and then having the medicine experience where you feel very safe, because I want that nervous system to feel safe.
Cause if you don't feel safe, you can't even start to heal. And so one of the first things we actually put on you when you come in is Dr. Dave Raven's Apollo neuro. So we're using vibration and sound and all different levels.
This is like a wearable hug, basically just to calm the nervous system down, right? I want to get that vagal response, quiet that amygdala a little bit, that fear center. And so now you're in the chair, that first infusion. I'm just want to dip the toe in the psychedelic pool.
I'd rather always underwhelm you than ever overwhelm you. And so we're picking out the music for you. Like we're curating everything.
And then now that you're in the medicine, I'm going to teach you how to kind of go within so you can get beyond. I tell everyone, here's my favorite seven word mantra, trust, let go, be open, be curious, allow, receive, surrender. And if you can do those seven things and add in the breath, because the mind follows the breath, the body follows the mind, and you can scan the body, look for areas of tension and give those areas attention with the conscious mind, with the breath.
That's how you calm the nervous system using ketamine as a catalyst. So you can get into this non-ordinary state and see your life through a new lens, essentially. And then after everything's done with the infusion, you rest.
And then we're on the vibroacoustic meditation cushion. And that first time they're going to hear the InHarmony intro track. And I always tell everybody, I'm not trying to sell you anything.
I just want to teach you about the technology. You're going to hear Craig Goldberg's voice, and he's going to allow you to feel and hear the music and the vibration. And afterwards, I mean, 99 times out of 100, like that was incredible.
I need to buy one of these, you know? Well, so there's two parts to that. First of all, I love that you're playing that intro track. It was designed specifically to guide people into the technology while giving them an experience.
I got down on 963. And really, the state that I was in, I was still under the spell of the medicine, even though I had come out and it was time and I'd come back into my body and I was back out of that dream state. But sitting there talking to Dr. Wong and talking to Craig and having this conversation of what I saw, what I experienced, recalling that dream state that I was in, and I remember specifically what I saw the first time and what I saw the second time.
The downloads, the vision, the realness, the texture, it was just all really profound. And then to take it to the meditation cushion and engage again in the memory, the recall, the experience with the VibroAcoustics, I did it three times, that 11-minute music meditation three times. I remember being like, it's over.
Can we do it again? And he was like, sure, let's keep talking. It was late in the day. It was a bonus for me being there when I got there.
Shout out to Dave Rabin, by the way, a dear friend of mine. I say all the time that we don't have a manual for living life. And he literally just wrote a book called A Simple Guide to Being Alive.
And he's one of my favorite humans in the space. I know the lab that he produced Apollo in. He's just a great human and I'm grateful to know him.
And shout out to you, Dave. I love you, bud. All right.
So was there a moment when you thought, okay, this is different? Like maybe you've already shared that. And it was sitting on the cushion in the first place when you had that first epiphany of like, this would be really good with ketamine. I layered it in.
Yeah. Anybody else in your family, your sphere of friends are using it outside of the work that you do with ketamine? Is there anybody else that comes in or uses it for any other purposes in the shop? I'm just curious. Uh, yeah.
I mean, honestly, also, yeah. Like I'm just saying at home, I have like your vibro-acoustic meditation cushion in my room. And so there's times when I'm on it just to kind of do a little reset down the day.
And my son, especially when he was younger, would just come over and like sit on my lap. I probably even sent you like pictures of the four of us together on it. And it's like kids are intuitively are kind of drawn to that.
I also saw recently, I think someone posted like a pediatrician. She has like the practitioner that she puts on top of her exam table. And so the kids like kind of like, you know, dysregulated and really kind of like maybe cranky, just putting them on that vibration, right? And calming that nervous system.
I'm sure you've probably seen with Harmony as well. You know, so I've seen that application of like trying to regulate a child versus trying to use their words for them. You really can't.
But they understand the vibration. They understand that energy, right? You know, if you want to ask me, it's now. She's now self-regulating with the sound lounge.
We had a tough night a couple nights ago and Harmony was just kind of missing the mark on a couple things. And I could tell she was frustrated and we were frustrated. She really wanted to feel heard.
We had company over and she just looked at me and said, Dad, can I go on the sound lounge? And I have this unspoken agreement with her. We talk about it. But anytime she wants to get on it, I will drop what I'm doing to put her on it.
And I know she wanted attention at the time. And we couldn't give her the attention because we had company over and she knows how to get my attention. And that is asking me if she can go on the sound lounge.
And I drop what I'm doing. And I did in that case. And I went over and she laid on it and I shot a video and I just put that video up on social.
And it's like me and my daughter have this mean looking into the camera, my daughter behind me. We have this unspoken rule. So my daughter part because I think she wanted attention.
But the other part is she was regulating herself. She knew she was having a hard time. She knew she had some stuff to work through.
And she laid on the sound lounge for the longest session that she had been on it, which is 10, 15 minutes. It's a long time for a six year old. It's one of the most beautiful things I get to experience with my technology because I don't force Harmony to get on it.
She doesn't have to. She chooses to. And she's been on it since she's one week old.
I've told this story and I've posted about it. Also, it's literally in harmony. It's she's in harmony, did not name her after the business or the business after her.
They were two totally separate situations. That's a totally different story. All right.
So if somebody, let's just wrap up with this. If somebody was in your same seat, but six months before you bought it and they're looking at it in harmony, they're watching our ads, they're watching our content, they're watching and learning and considering what message would you have for somebody that's considering bringing in Harmony into their world? I would say, honestly, like go on to your store finder or like your affiliate finder. Right.
Like anyone that's on there, we're definitely like good vibe tribe. And if they go on there and they type in the zip code and they're like, hey, there's a guy that has a sound engineer, be like me and then call me up and you can come check out the tech and get on it. Right.
It's like it's a show you not to tell you like you got to feel the tech. You got to immerse yourself in the music, the vibration. It's so much more than like just a vibroacoustic bed.
It's an experience. And so come experience it just like the ketamine. Right.
It's a show you not to tell you. I could talk about it all day until you actually experience it like, oh, then I get it. Like it's you have to like you got to feel it to heal it.
And your technology allows people to feel to heal and really shift their vibration, shift their other feeling like without any drugs, without any medications. I mean, essentially, then no side effects. Right.
Get on the 963 hertz. I'm connected to higher self. That is my favorite all time track.
Anthony crushed it on there. Six minutes like that is the gem right there. Been that I've had an epiphany to that that song, that vibroacoustic track on the bed.
I imagine I was going to meet you one day and you're going to come down to the clinic and all happened. And here I am. You've been in my house and I love your family and secretly Jacobian Harmony might have a future together because I think you'd make one hell of an in law.
All right. There we go. Yeah.
So let me let me. So that's what I'm saying is come like you have a huge network. People have your tech.
So you sure check out the stuff online, but then just come in person like I have people like, you know, Dr. Sarah came over and saw me with Dr. Keiko and checked out the tech. And I was just it brought people together of like minds. So you'll find your tribe if you go on there.
And then also do the customer service, your FDA cleared device. I mean, like if you're in the vibroacoustic. FDA registered.
A registered, but still like this is like you have a patent, you know, on the vibroacoustic meditation cushion, like that's the easiest entry in the vibroacoustics price wise. Like you will not regret the purchase. And obviously, like the service and you, the whole team, you and Dom, like don't hesitate, get it.
And you'll be like, man, why don't I get this sooner? You know, I just had a patient right now. Like he is on the bed and he's like, dude, my dad's like end stage. He's, you know, working with hospice right now.
And like we get on the vibroacoustic bed and it gives him like moments of happiness, right? Where he forgets about what he's going through right now. You know, and that's what it's all about, man. That's experience.
And like, I just really appreciate your technology and that we're able to connect. You know, sometimes good things come from Instagram. This is a case in point of it.
And so it's a show you not to tell you, look someone up, type in your zip code and come check it out. And if you're near a Scottsdale or Gilbert, I will personally give an experience on the bed free, no cost. I love that.
And I love you. I appreciate that. So I'll tell you a couple of things.
One of the things, one of the reasons why I think you sell so many is one, the passion to the impact that you've seen. And also when you're in these altered states of consciousness and then you reinforce that with a physical embodiment like vibroacoustic therapy, you can go back to that state of consciousness without the medicine after the fact. And I know this because I've spoken to so many of your clients and referrals that are like, I use this and I go back to the place.
They're still coming for tune-ups. They're still coming to see you and they're still following through with everything they're doing, but they're able to go back to that state, that place every time they sit down for a ketatation on our vibroacoustics. I just love that name and I love your wordsmithing.
And so I think that's one. The other thing I would share is yes, absolutely go to our locator. Absolutely look up who you are and where you're going.
I'm going to announce something else that we're literally putting up. I'm writing this as we speak, finalizing it and putting it up on our site tomorrow. And that is we already have a 30-day experience guarantee.
So you can bring it home. You can use it. You can, as long as you do 10 sessions in that 30 days, because we can see app performance and we can see what's happening in the backend.
If you don't absolutely love it, I'm happy to take that return. I'm extending that to 100 days. So we're going to have a 100-day return policy.
And as long as you use the tech, I will cover the shipping. I will cover the return shipping. So we got some big things where we are standing behind our product, the experience.
If there isn't somebody that's nearby, if you can't travel to Gilbert or Scottsdale to go see Dr. James, by all means, make your purchase, try it before you buy it and then try it in your home. And if you don't absolutely love it, I'm happy. We can't keep them in our warehouse.
I am happy to get it to somebody that's absolutely going to love it. Dr. James, I love you, brother. I can't wait to see you again.
You're like your customer service is beyond expectations. I mean, even times like, you know, I had the cushions, the first edition and those things pounded. But, you know, there was a solder that went that broke.
You would send me a brand new cushion. I put the other one in the box and send it back. Postage is paid for.
Like you literally have nothing to lose and so much to gain. So like, give InHarmony a try and you will be like, this is amazing. Like, especially, it's also like you have friends come over.
What a cool little thing to do. Like, hey, let's get on this barbecue, sit in our bed. Like it's like a new activity, essentially.
And for your kids to regulate them. Could be a new nighttime ritual. And then you keep putting on new music.
Like your app is amazing. You can also play whatever music you want through your device, which is rare. Not every vibroacoustic company out there allows you to do that, right? So you can play even your favorite music, whatever you want through your device, right? I love it, brother.
I appreciate you. I love you. I love your family.
I love your partners. I love what you do in the world and how you show up. You too, man.
You as well. You know, be the change you wish to see. You know, you're making an impact, man.
For real. That's what this technology does. I appreciate that.
And that's what this technology does. You're spot on with the Telegram channel. You're spot on with reaching out to people on our locator, really anywhere in the world.
You can call any of them. I have a personal relationship with just about everybody on that list because I want to and I choose to. And they are all just as amazing as you are watching this.
Because if you're even considering this, watching this content, you're going to be somebody just like me and Dr. James ready to touch the world in a positive way. Dude, even your version of the cushion without the vibro acoustics, just because the ergonomic design for the footwell, like it's so well designed. Like if you do any meditation, you need to have the cushion at least just to kind of start there.
And as you said, man, say goodbye to a distracted mind. Say hello to a relaxed existence. And you can do that if you bring in harmony into your house.
You can experience here at the clinic or you can bring it home with you. And then you have that ability to like drop in and regulate. Right.
It's, you know, like literally it's a noisy out there. How do you quiet the distraction? Boom. You put the headphones, you drop in, like you said, man, sound bath on tap.
You got it. You created it. It's one of my favorite things to do.
Still, even today, my mom, my dad, me, my wife, my daughter, everybody in this house is on it as often as possible. I still love it. Yeah, it does not.
And, uh, and I'm still mesmerized. I put somebody on it for the first time yesterday. Just every single session, every tens of thousands of sessions that I've run for other people.
And it just keeps getting better. 10 years. We're doing this this November.
And I got at least another hundred in front of me. I'm going to keep going and going and going. I mean, literally, we've done over 15,000 ketamine infusions since 2020.
Every single patient that comes through since I got the cushions in the bed is on your tech for at least one session. Every single one of them. So many people perform that.
Once you do the bed, you don't want to go back to the chair. They're like, no, no, it is. It is pretty magical.
Yeah, too. We have four beds total. And then all the other rooms have the cushions in them.
It's part of our process. Like it allows me to have a unique, uh, you know, offering essentially to people. It's not just treatment street.
I mean, here's the ketamine. See you next time. It's integration.
It's tech integration. And it's allowing you to really kind of realize your full human potential. And it's a vibration, man.
Tune into the love station. There he goes. I love you, James.
Thank you, brother. Have a fabulous day. Thank you for your time and your energy.
I'm grateful for this opportunity to raise awareness and, you know, be on your show, dude. I love that you're doing this. So much love for your brother and your family and the whole team at Harmony.
Dom, all the peeps. Thanks for spending time with us on the InHarmony podcast. If today's conversation resonated, share it with someone who needs it.
