VAT International: The Effects of Vibroacoustic Music on Symptom Reduction Inducing the Relaxation Response through Good Vibrations delves into the effects of vibroacoustic music on symptom reduction
This study evaluated the impact of vibroacoustic therapy (VAT) on 272 patients at the NIH Clinical Center, encompassing conditions like cancer, heart and lung diseases, infections, and mood disorders. A 22-minute VAT session, preceded by an 8-minute relaxation exercise, led to an average 53% reduction in pain and symptoms, including tension, fatigue, headache, nausea, and depression. The findings suggest that VAT effectively induces a relaxation response, contributing to symptom relief. A subsequent study by Boyd-Brewer with chemotherapy patients reported similar benefits, with up to 74% symptom reduction. These results highlight VAT's potential as a non-invasive method for managing pain and stress across diverse medical conditions.
